Gaythri Raman

Gaythri Raman is the Managing Director of LexisNexis Southeast Asia, responsible for the adoption of online solutions for the litigation, corporate and government segments across Southeast Asia.  She is a strong advocate for the transformation of legal business by leveraging legal innovations to make meaningful impact.  Her vision has led the way in the legal industry in Southeast Asia.  Gaythri’s appreciation for the rule of law and its significance in empowering individuals and improving access to justice has been a driving force throughout her career.  She believes that technology can be the powerful enabler to advance the rule of law by enhancing legal literacy and improving transparency of the law.

 

Isaac Tan

Isaac is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (“CTO”) of SUPA, a company at the forefront of AI infrastructure development.  With a mission to democratise and accelerate AI adoption, SUPA has empowered world-class companies to build frontier AI solutions across diverse sectors, including autonomous driving, precision agriculture, and advanced safety inspections.  A passionate advocate for open-source technology, Isaac actively contributes to various AI projects, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the global tech community.

Beyond his professional pursuits, he finds balance and inspiration through tennis and rock climbing, activities that complement his problem-solving skills and adventurous spirit.

 

Moderator

Sathish Mavath Ramachandran

Sathish Mavath Ramachandran read law and graduated in 1992 from the University of Kent at Canterbury.  In 1993, he qualified as a Barrister from Middle Temple.  He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1994.  Apart from corporate advisory, governance, and compliance work, his experiences include venture capital and private equity investments; mergers and acquisitions; corporate finance and capital markets; property and construction; technology; conveyancing; and banking.  He has over 30 years of extensive experience in corporate and commercial law.

He is currently a member of the Bar Council Conveyancing Practice Committee; Bar Council Corporate and Commercial Law Committee; Bar Council Cyber and Privacy Laws Committee; Bar Council Legal Tech, AI and Sandbox Committee; Bar Council Ad-Hoc Committee on Personal Data Protection; and Bar Council Ageing Rights Advisory Committee.

He is also a member of the Corporate and Conveyancing Practice Committee and Professional Development Committee of the Kuala Lumpur Bar.  He is a member of the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board, a statutory regulator.  He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators’ (“MAICSA”) Disciplinary Committee investigation group.

 

Terms and Conditions

Event Policy

Places are limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

For events with registration fees, all payments must be made in advance, including bank charges. Registration will be confirmed once proof of payment is provided by email or fax, and full payment is received.

For events that are not organised by Bar Council, please note that you are subject to the relevant terms and conditions specified by the external providers.

Cancellation 

Cancellations must be made in writing.

If you have failed to inform the organiser on your cancellation for three consecutive times, you may be blacklisted for future events.

Refunds 

Refunds will be processed after the event is completed. This may take up to 30 business days. The conditions for refunds are as follows:

  • Full refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled or postponed by the organiser due to some circumstances.
  • No refunds for this course. However substitution is allowed.

The organiser reserves the right to modify, cancel or postpone the event, should circumstances arise that make such action necessary, whereupon all registration fees paid will be refunded.

Transferral

You are allowed to transfer your place to another participant, but you must notify the organiser with the necessary details.

Attendance 

CPD points will not be awarded to lawyers and pupils in chambers from Peninsular Malaysia who arrive more than 15 minutes late, are not present throughout the event, or leave before its scheduled end.

Privacy 

The personal information that you provide to the Bar Council, whether now or in the future, may be used, recorded, stored, disclosed or otherwise processed by or on behalf of the Bar Council for the purposes of facilitation and organisation of this event, research and audit, maintenance of a participant database for the promotion of this event, and such ancillary services as may be relevant.
