Webinar | Effective Communication Strategic : Part 1 (Think Before You Send: Smart Email Strategies for Young Lawyers)

20 Jun 2025 - Fri / 1 day / 4:00pm - 5:30pm /

In a profession built on relationships, understanding nuances, having trust, and possessing the ability to communicate well are your most powerful tools. Legal email communication is not just about sounding professional; it is about exercising judgment, knowing your ethical obligations, and navigating the complexities of law firm culture, client relationships, and professional reputations. Selective use of artificial intelligence (“AI”) can support (but not replace) that skill.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Navigate different types of email approaches (eg, writing to a partner, a client, or opposing counsel) and adapt tone and structure to suit different legal contexts;
  2. Recognise when not to send an email and understand when a phone call, meeting, or silence may be more effective than an email;
  3. Consider ethical considerations when using AI to draft emails;
  4. Reduce the number of follow-up emails that you may need to send; and
  5. Avoid reputational pitfalls like passive-aggression, overuse of cc or bcc, or unintentionally undermining colleagues or clients.
