Client Account Campaign Talk: Part III @ Kuala Lumpur

Description

As part of the Client Account Campaign that was launched on 21 June 2025, which can be viewed here, the Bar Council Risk Management Committee is organising a series of focused talks aimed at promoting awareness and best practices in managing client accounts. Through this initiative, lawyers would be able to better understand the responsibilities of being a sole proprietor or partner and manage client accounts prudently.

The talk is divided into the following three parts, which may be conducted in any sequence, provided all parts are completed:

Speaker

Jamie Wong

Jamie Wong is the founder and principal of her own law practice Jamie Wong, overseeing both litigation and corporate
departments. She is known for her experience in dispute resolution, focusing on corporate and commercial litigation.
She has represented clients as counsel in the High Court and Appellate jurisdiction. Her client base spans private individuals, small- and medium-sized enterprises, and public listed companies, both locally and internationally.

Jamie also advises on a broad spectrum of corporate matters including contract negotiations and business structuring, across industries such as real estate, manufacturing, IT, development and investment. Jamie has spoken at industry conferences, lectures, seminars and workshops organised by professional bodies, academic institutions and corporate entities. She regularly contributes to leading legal and business publications, sharing her insights on corporate law and practice.

 

Murshidah Mustafa

Murshidah Mustafa is the Secretary of the Malaysian Bar. She was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1996. She is the Chairperson of the Malaysian International Mediation Centre (“MIMC”) and one of its mediation trainers. She is also an accredited mediator under The Accord Group, an international dispute resolution firm based in Sydney, Australia. Her areas of legal practice are family law (civil and syariah), probate and succession, Islamic estate, corporate and commercial, conveyancing, Islamic banking and finance, and alternative dispute resolution.

Murshidah has been an elected member of the Bar Council since 2016. She is also an active speaker, delivering talks on various topics under the Bar Council Professional Standards and Development Committee. Murshidah has been actively conducting mediation trainings for Members, universities, and several Government agencies such as the Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia. She has also participated in many local and international seminars and conferences on mediation, syariah law, family law, and related topics. Murshidah is experienced in conducting seminars and webinars related to probate, grants, wills, faraid, hibah, and other related issues on the administration of Islamic estates
and succession.

Terms and Conditions

Event Policy
Places are limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis. The registration for this session will close on 23 September 2025 (Tuesday), at 12:00 pm.

For events with registration fees, all payments must be made in advance, including bank charges. Registration will be confirmed once proof of payment is provided by email or fax, and full payment is received.

The organiser reserves the right to modify, cancel or postpone the event, should circumstances arise that make such action necessary, whereupon all registration fees paid will be refunded.

Cancellation
Cancellations must be made in writing.

Please note that there will be no refunds for cancellations, but substitutions are allowed. Kindly inform us in writing with the relevant details at least three days in advance.

If you have failed to inform the organiser on your cancellation for three consecutive times, you may be blacklisted for future events.

Transferral
You are allowed to transfer your place to another participant, but you must notify the organiser with the necessary details at least three days in advance.

Attendance
CPD points for CPD Scheme will not be awarded to lawyers and pupils in chambers from Peninsular Malaysia who arrive more than 15 minutes late, are not present throughout the event, or leave before its scheduled end.

Privacy
The personal information that you provide to the Malaysian Bar, whether now or in the future, may be used, recorded, stored, disclosed or otherwise processed by or on behalf of the Malaysian Bar for the purposes of facilitation and organisation of this event, research and audit, maintenance of a participant database for the promotion of this event, and such ancillary services as may be relevant.
