The Bar Council recognises the importance of competence in the everyday workplace. With this in mind, we have developed some ways for you to enhance your knowledge and skills through involvement in postgraduate and academic programmes in law.
Academic Collaboration (for 2017/2018)
The Bar Council has fostered collaboration with academic institutions that are globally recognised in order to provide an opportunity for Members of the Malaysian Bar and pupils in chambers to complete their postgraduate and academic programmes in law. Here are the academic institutions that have been in collaboration with us for 2017/2018:
Applying for CPD Points for Postgraduate and Academic Programme
If you have completed a postgraduate and academic programme in law, you are eligible to claim between 8 to 16 CPD points.
For accreditation of a postgraduate and academic programme in law by the Bar Council, you are required to submit an application with the following information:
- Course Title
- Programme Structure (eg, part-time or full-time and mode of delivery)
- Period of Study
Evidential support is also mandatory for the application to be processed, and they may include:
- Acceptance Letter
- Academic Transcript
- Academic Certificate

Kindly note that CPD points will only be assigned to postgraduate and academic programmes that commenced or completed after 1 July 2012.
