The Introduction to Mediation Skills Training Course is an intensive two-day course designed to enhance your understanding of mediation.
You will learn hands-on and effective techniques of managing and resolving conflicts, and improving your communication and interpersonal skills.
This course is highly interactive and includes active engagement in role plays and activities for the development of soft skills, which are essential for mediation.
Speaker
Megalai V Raman
Megalai V Raman who is with Meg Nacha Zahir & Co., has been in practice since 1994. Meg as she is known is an Accredited Mediator with the Malaysian Mediation Centre (MMC) now known as Malaysian International Mediation Centre (MIMC) and the Asian International Arbitration Centre.
Meg has been the Trainer in several of the Mediation training programmes conducted by the MIMC and has also conducted trainings in the Industrial Court.
She mediates in the area of commercial, land, medico legal and construction disputes. She claims that she is a people person and the best if not the only way to sustain values and relationships in this era of conflict and commercialization is to resolve disputes through mediation.
Christine Khor
Christine pursued law in Sydney, earning a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Accountancy) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney. In 2000, she was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of Malaya. Before establishing her own legal practice in 2003, now known as Moi-Christine Khor, she gained valuable experience working for two law firms.
Her practice focuses on construction disputes (including adjudication, mediation, and arbitration), corporate advisory and secretarial services, family law (encompassing matrimonial issues, trusts, and inheritance). Her legal team also handles conveyancing and banking matters. Christine is also the trainer who speaks on construction disputes for the Continuing Professional Unit of University Technology Malaysia
A firm believer in lifelong learning, Christine has continuously enhanced her legal expertise and soft skills. She holds a Master of Science in Finance and Financial Law with Merit from the University of London (International Programme) and served as the Contributory Editor for the "Labuan Trusts Act 1996 (Act 554),” Annotated Statutes of Malaysia 2012 Issue 100, published by Lexis Nexis.
Accredited as a mediator by the MIMC, AIAC, and CCPIT Mediation Centre, Christine also holds fellowships with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (FMIArb).
Her dedication extends to her role as a committee member of the Bar Council's Malaysian International Mediation Centre (MIMC), where she also contributes as a trainer, presenter, coach, and assessor. Christine has also assisted in the collaborative efforts between the Malaysia-China Business Mediation Centre, a joint initiative by the CCPIT Mediation Centre of China and the Bar Council's Malaysian Mediation Centre, established in 2017. Additionally, she also serves on the Bar Council's Disciplinary Committee.
Terms and Conditions
Event Policy
Places are limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
For events with registration fees, all payments must be made in advance, including bank charges. Registration will be confirmed once proof of payment is provided by email or fax, and full payment is received.
For events that are not organised by Bar Council, please note that you are subject to the relevant terms and conditions specified by the external providers.
Cancellation
Cancellations must be made in writing.
If you have failed to inform the organiser on your cancellation for three consecutive times, you may be blacklisted for future events.
Refunds
Refunds will be processed after the event is completed. This may take up to 30 business days. The conditions for refunds are as follows:
- Full refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled or postponed by the organiser due to some circumstances.
- No refunds for this course. However substitution is allowed.
The organiser reserves the right to modify, cancel or postpone the event, should circumstances arise that make such action necessary, whereupon all registration fees paid will be refunded.
Transferral
You are allowed to transfer your place to another participant, but you must notify the organiser with the necessary details.
Attendance
CPD points will not be awarded to lawyers and pupils in chambers from Peninsular Malaysia who arrive more than 15 minutes late, are not present throughout the event, or leave before its scheduled end.
Privacy
The personal information that you provide to the Bar Council, whether now or in the future, may be used, recorded, stored, disclosed or otherwise processed by or on behalf of the Bar Council for the purposes of facilitation and organisation of this event, research and audit, maintenance of a participant database for the promotion of this event, and such ancillary services as may be relevant.
