Tony Pua
Mr Pua is the Member of Parliament for Damansara and Political Secretary to the Minister of Finance.
Before joining politics full-time in January 2007, Mr Pua was the CEO and founder of a Malaysian IT company, publicly listed in Singapore. Mr. Pua holds a honours degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from Keble College, Oxford University.
Panelist: YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming
Ong Kian Ming obtained his PhD in political science from Duke University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He is currently the Member of Parliament for Bangi, representing the Democratic Action Party (DAP) which is part of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government coalition. He is a 2nd term Member of Parliament.
He was the Head of the Penang Institute office in Kuala Lumpur from 2014 to 2018.
He was appointed as Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry (MITI) on July 2018.
Prior to being elected into public office, he was a lecturer and policy analyst at UCSI University, a private university in Kuala Lumpur. He was also the director of the Malaysian Electoral Roll Analysis Project (MERAP). Prior to his PhD, he worked as a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in the KL office and as a policy analyst with two think thanks, the Institute of Strategic Analysis and Policy Research (INSAP) and the Socio-Economic Development and Research (SEDAR) Institute.
He holds a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE) and an MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge. He completed his O levels and A levels in Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College in Singapore under the ASEAN scholarship. He studied in La Salle PJ (Primary and Secondary) until Form 3.
Panelist: Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh
Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh has over 35 years of experience in the tax profession as a consultant, academic, author and tax observer. He is currently the is Non- Executive Chairman , Axcelasia Inc.
Prior to this appointment, he was the Managing Director of Taxand Malaysia since January 2007, and the Chairman from January 2012. Between July 2003 and December 2006, Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh was the Managing Director of VS on Tax Sdn Bhd, an Executive Director/Partner at Ernst & Young Tax Consultants Sdn Bhd between July 2002 to June 2003 and Executive Director and Partner at Arthur Andersen between December 1996 to June 2002.
Between June 1988 to December 1996, Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh was a lecturer and subsequently an associate professor at the University of Malaya where he taught and researched on tax. He was also an Assistant Manager at Price Waterhouse Tax Services Sdn Bhd between May 1985 and 1988, an Assessment Officer at the Inland Revenue Department of Malaysia from May 1980 to April 1985, a Tax Assistant at Peat Marwick Mitchell between February to April 1980, and a Financial Analyst at the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority between August 1979 and January 1980. He is also presently an Independent Director on IBFD Asia Sdn Bhd and Bank of Nova Scotia Berhad. He is also an approved tax agent under Section 153(3) of the Malaysian Income Tax Act.
Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh is currently a Council Member and Executive Committee Member of the MICPA. He was appointed to the Council of MIA for the period from May 2004 to April 2007, and subsequently for another two-year term commencing from May 2014. He is also currently the Chairman of the Taxation Committee of the MIA and a member of the Disciplinary Appeals Board of the MIA. Previously, Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh was the President of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia between June 2007 to June 2010.
On the international front, Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh is presently a board member of Taxand. He has also been a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation, a tax publisher and research organisation based in Amsterdam, since May 2009, a Trustee of the Malaysian Tax Research Foundation since December 2010, and a member of the Tax Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce based in Paris since February 2012. He has also published articles and papers in various accounting, tax and law publications, and has spoken extensively on Malaysian and international tax matters in local and overseas conferences.
Panelist: Suhaimi Ilias
Suhaimi is the Chief Economist of Maybank Investment Bank. He has 24 years of experience in Economics Research and first started his career at the central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia, between 1993-1998.
Suhaimi then joined Affin-UOB Securities (later renamed Affin Securities and subsequently Affin Investment Bank) until March 2007 before joining Maybank Investment Bank.
Suhaimi was voted the Best Local Economist in The Edge 2008 survey, and raised and sustained the top ranking of Maybank Investment Bank's Macroeconomic Research in Malaysia in the 2008-2015 Asiamoney Brokers Poll (2014:2nd; 2015: 1st).
Suhaimi holds a BA (Hons) and a MA (Hons) in Economics from Cambridge University.

Azizul Amiludin is the head of research and co-founder of DM-Analytics Sdn Bhd, an economic policy research organisation.
Prior to that Azizul was with Bank Negara Malaysia for 12 years. In BNM he held responsibilities in asset management, capital markets analysis and was the Chief Representative of the Bank in London. His last position at the Bank was as head of risk management for the international foreign reserves.
Azizul holds a degree in engineering from Brown University, masters in economics from Universiti Malaya and LLM in Corporate Finance Law from Westminster University.
