Hj Zainal Abidin Sh Zakaria obtained his law degree from Universiti Teknologi MARA (‘UiTM’). He also holds a postgraduate Diploma in Syariah and Legal Practice form International Islamic University Malaysia. He has experience in the corporate banking and finance sector, having worked for 16 years before practising as a lawyer. He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor in 1995. He is well-versed in the field of credit recovery, credit control, secretaryship, insurance and commercial transactions, banking transactions, Islamic banking and corporate matters. His last post before practising was Head of Corporate Services Division and Company Secretary of a subsidiary of a financial institution.
He is a partner at Messrs Zahir Jeya & Zainal. As a practitioner, he is currently involved in banking, Islamic banking, loan documentation, conveyancing, corporate advisory, and litigation. He has been a member of the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board since 1998. He is also a sub-committee member of the Selangor Bar Committee for conveyancing practice and syariah: a committee member of the Bar Council Syariah Law Committee: and an-Exco Member of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Malaysia.
