Speaker

Sharifah Shafika Alsagoff is a partner in Skrine’s corporate division and co-heads its banking and finance practice group. She is passionate about Islamic finance and has more than 25 years of experience in engaging and structuring matters related to Islamic finance and investments.

Shafika’s practice is diverse and she has advised on a multitude of matters, ranging from retail and corporate finance, project finance, sukuks, private equity investments, real estate acquisition and disposal as well as real estate investment trusts (“REITs”) and social finance. Her clients include sovereigns and other government-related entities, international financial institutions and corporate service providers. She also advises international clients on various capital markets and Islamic investments structures.

Moderators

Murshidah Mustafa is the Secretary of the Malaysian Bar. She was the Treasurer of the Malaysian Bar for the terms 2021/2022, 2022/2023 and 2023/2024. She served as a representative of the Kedah Bar Committee to the Bar Council for the term 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.

She was the Co-Chairperson for the Bar Council Professional Standards and Development Committee (2021-2022) and the Co-Deputy Chairperson of the Bar Council Professional Standards and Development Committee (2019 to 2020 and 2018 to 2019), Deputy Chairperson of the Bar Council Mediation Committee (2019 to 2020), Deputy Chairperson of the Bar Council LawCare and Welfare Committee (2019 to 2020), and Deputy Chairperson for the Bar Council Small Firms Committee (2019 to 2020).

Murshidah is experienced in conducting seminars and webinars related to probate, grants, wills, faraid and other related issues on property management of Muslims.

 

Mohamad Redzuan b Idrus was admitted as an advocate and solicitor in the High Court of Malaya in Pulau Pinang in 2002. He is a partner at Fariz Halim & Co., focusing on conveyancing, general litigation, corporate matters, and estate affairs. In 2020, he became a certified mediator through the Malaysian Mediation Centre. He co-founded HARTAGUAM in 2015 and served as its Deputy Chairman until 2020.

Redzuan is regularly invited to conduct seminars for government agencies and private organisations, with clients including the Malaysia Bar Council, CIMB Islamic Bank, and the Penang Development Corporation. He chaired the Conveyancing Practice Subcommittee of the Penang Bar Committee for the term 2022/23 and directed the Penang Inaugural Conveyancing Conference 2022. For the 2024/25 term, he is Chairperson of the Islamic Finance and Transaction Committee at the Penang Bar Committee. He directed the Islamic Finance Conveyancing Conference and the Conference on Reform of Islamic Inheritance Administration Laws.

Redzuan has contributed to legal education by developing professional legal modules and co-authoring the book "Analisis Hibah Semasa: Mutlak, Amanah, Cagar dan Syarat" during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Terms and Conditions

Event Policy

Places are limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

For events with registration fees, all payments must be made in advance, including bank charges. Registration will be confirmed once proof of payment is provided by email or fax, and full payment is received.

For events that are not organised by Bar Council, please note that you are subject to the relevant terms and conditions specified by the external providers.

Cancellation 

Cancellations must be made in writing.

If you have failed to inform the organiser on your cancellation for three consecutive times, you may be blacklisted for future events.

Refunds 

Refunds will be processed after the event is completed. This may take up to 30 business days. The conditions for refunds are as follows:

  • Full refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled or postponed by the organiser due to some circumstances.
  • No refunds for this course. However substitution is allowed.

The organiser reserves the right to modify, cancel or postpone the event, should circumstances arise that make such action necessary, whereupon all registration fees paid will be refunded.

Transferral

You are allowed to transfer your place to another participant, but you must notify the organiser with the necessary details.

Attendance 

CPD points will not be awarded to lawyers and pupils in chambers from Peninsular Malaysia who arrive more than 15 minutes late, are not present throughout the event, or leave before its scheduled end.

Privacy 

The personal information that you provide to the Bar Council, whether now or in the future, may be used, recorded, stored, disclosed or otherwise processed by or on behalf of the Bar Council for the purposes of facilitation and organisation of this event, research and audit, maintenance of a participant database for the promotion of this event, and such ancillary services as may be relevant.
