Yet, it continues to face serious threats from match-fixing and illegal betting, to doping, corruption and abuse of power within sporting organisations. This session explores how issues of integrity are shaping the future of sport in Malaysia and beyond. It will examine the legal and regulatory frameworks that govern integrity in sport including the Sports Development Act 1997, the Safe Sport Code and the anti-doping regime alongside international best practices. Through real-world cases and comparative insights, the discussion will highlight the challenges of safeguarding athletes, strengthening governance and promoting transparency.

Speaker

Sri Sarguna Raj heads the Intellectual Property (“IP”), Technology, Media, Sports and Gaming practice area at Adnan Sundra & Low, focusing on the protection and resolution of issues or disputes relating to IP matters, both contentious and non-contentious. He represents and assists clients in disputes related to patents, copyright, privacy, trade secrets, trademarks, passing off, industrial designs, advertising and domain names, as well as various aspects of the enforcement of IP rights.

His non-litigation work includes the registration of various IP rights and drafting and advising on IP issues in corporate and commercial transactions. He also advises clients on matters related to sports, gaming, media, technology, data protection, licensing, franchising, regulatory advice, entertainment, sponsorship and merchandising. Sri is the Immediate Past President of the Sports Law Association of Malaysia, a member of the Results Management Committee of the Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia and a panel member of the Asian Sports Tribunal of the Asian International Arbitration Centre. Sri is also a member of the Safe Sports Committee under the purview of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Event Policy

Places are limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis.

The registration for this session will close on 17 Nov 2025 (Monday), at 12:00 pm.

For events with registration fees, all payments must be made in advance, including bank charges.

Registration will be confirmed once proof of payment is provided by email or fax, and full payment is received.

The organiser reserves the right to modify, cancel or postpone the event, should circumstances arise that make such action necessary, whereupon all registration fees paid will be refunded.

Cancellation

Cancellations must be made in writing.

Please note that there will be no refunds for cancellations, but substitutions are allowed.

Kindly inform us in writing with the relevant details at least three days in advance.

If you have failed to inform the organiser on your cancellation for three consecutive times, you may be blacklisted for future events.

Transferral

You are allowed to transfer your place to another participant, but you must notify the organiser with the necessary details at least three days in advance.

Attendance

CPD points for CPD Scheme will not be awarded to lawyers and pupils in chambers from Peninsular Malaysia who arrive more than 15 minutes late, are not present throughout the event, or leave before its scheduled end.

Privacy

The personal information that you provide to the Malaysian Bar, whether now or in the future, may be used, recorded, stored, disclosed or otherwise processed by or on behalf of the Malaysian Bar for the purposes of facilitation and organisation of this event, research and audit, maintenance of a participant database for the promotion of this event, and such ancillary services as may be relevant
