Discussion on Amendments to The Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976

Pushpa Ratnam was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1994. She served the London Magistracy as a Legal Adviser to Magistrates from 1989 to 1994. During her five years in service, she gained experience in the area of family and criminal law in the United Kingdom. This has been enhanced by her continued assistance in various local and international women’s groups and organisations. She then continued to focus in the practice area of family law.

In the course of her legal practice, she has presented several papers at national forums, and has spoken at various forums organised by State Bar Committees and the Bar Council on issues relating to family law, domestic violence, and gender. She was part of the inaugural group that attended the Training of Trainers on Child Rights and has since been an active child rights trainer in Malaysia. She has been a member of the Bar Council Professional Standards and Development Committee for several years now and has done many talks, training sessions,
seminars, and workshops in family law throughout Malaysia.
