Speaker

Mohamed Ridza Abdullah is the managing partner of Mohamed Ridza & Co (MRCo), a Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners recognised firm. MRCo is also a member of LAWorld, an independent network of boutique legal firms around the world. Ridza has been involved in many groundbreaking and landmark transactions in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, China, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. He is a certified adjudicator and a panel arbitrator with the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre of Arbitration in the area of Islamic Banking & Finance. Ridza is a senior independent director and a member of the audit, nomination and remuneration committees at Theta Edge Berhad, a public listed telecommunications and technology company. He is also an independent director at Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad. At Bank Islam, he chairs the board IT committee and is also a member of the audit committee and board strategic committee.

He authored several publications, including the Law and Practice of Islamic Banking & Finance published by Sweet & Maxwell; a contributor to the Sukuk series, Getting the Deal Through—Gas Regulations; and his recent book on the Life and Law of Fintech, published by Sweet & Maxwell. A Petronas scholar, he holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honors) from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (London), a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (FCIS), and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACI Arb.).
