Description
Since Singapore acceded to the Convention on the Rights of Child on 5 Oct 1995, there has been a steady call for a better recognition on the rights of children, and for better representation of the voice of the child in our courts. It was in more recent years that Singapore saw the introduction of various initiatives in its court to give effects to its treaty obligations in respect of hearing the child’s voice in divorce and child custody disputes. This session will discuss the evolution of these initiatives, outline their procedures and process, evaluate the training involved and assess and critique their effectiveness.
