Speaker

Sharifah Shafika Alsagoff began her career as an advocate and solicitor in 1995 undertaking a mixture of conveyancing, corporate and litigation matters. Over the years she has gained vast experience in the drafting of a variety of legal documentations ranging from banking & financing, corporate commercial, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, licensing,sponsorships and consultancy agreements.

In 2005, she joined Messrs Mohamed Ridza & Co as a partner wherein she has advised and assisted both investment bankers and issuers in the structuring and issuance of Islamic securities at both domestic and international levels utilizing various Shariah concepts. She has also worked very closely with banks in formulating and updating their documentation templates for Islamic financing to be in line with the various Bank Negara guidelines and policy documents issued.

Lukman Sheriff Alias is a partner at Zul Rafique & Partners. He graduated from IIUM with an LLB (First Class) before obtaining his LLM from Cambridge University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance from IIUM. He was Called to the Bar in 1993, and is now a partner at the firm heading the corporate energy and utilities practice group.

He has been involved in various large-scale construction projects and development and corporate transactions. He has previously served in the harmonisation committee of Bank Negara Malaysia. He is currently a member of the Bar Council and Deputy Chairperson of itsIslamic Finance Committee.
