Mediation Advocacy

Mediation prioritises outcomes that work for both sides, rather than decisions imposed by a third party, and helps preserve both business and personal relationships.

This session also seeks to promote mediation as a viable and effective mechanism for dispute resolution, while enhancing Members’ understanding of the Malaysian International Mediation Centre (“MIMC”).

Topics include:

(1) Overview of MIMC
(2) How MIMC can support you
(3) MIMC’s roles and functions:
(a) Mediation centre
(b) Training of mediators
(c) Training of lawyers, including:
(i) Becoming a mediation advocate
(ii) The lawyer’s role before, during and after mediation
(iii) Professional conduct in mediation
(iv) The impact of mediation on legal practice and income
