This two-hour interactive programme will take you on an introspective journey to achieving optimum parenting — ideal form modern-day parents who are professionals. The speakers will discuss the profile of current parenting challenges, styles of parenting, and aspects of a parent’s personality, that can enhance effective parenting techniques for maximum influence using secular human values.

Parents Helping Parents is a community outreach initiative by the ParentCare Team of the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Malaysia.

Speaker

Sitpah Selvaratnam is a barrister and international arbitrator, currently practising as a consultant of the law firm Messrs Tommy Thomas in Kuala Lumpur. She is a Certified Lifeline Practitioner trained in Australia directly under the propounder of the Lifeline Technique, Dr Darren Weissman of Chicago, since 2010; a Reiki channel; a meditator; a yoga practitioner, and an Aikido martial art enthusiast. She is trained in the Emotional Freedom Technique, Neurofeedback, and other wellness processes.

She is the National ParentCare Coordinator of the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Malaysia, and with her dedicated ParentCare team of facilitators, has been advancing human value principles of self-transformation for enhanced parent-child relations for more than 13 years. She has three children aged 22, 18 and 14.

Dr Tan Chwee Choon is a physician, recently retired. Prior to his retirement in 2017, he had served as a Senior Consultant Nephrologist and Head of Department of Nephrology at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang. He had also held the post of National Head of Nephrology Services, Ministry of Health Malaysia. He has played many active leadership roles in a number of professional societies and foundations such as the Malaysian Society of Nephrology, Malaysian Society of Transplantation, and the National Kidney Foundation Malaysia. Dr Tan has two sons aged 25 and 24, both pursuing medical careers. His involvement with the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Malaysia ParentCare Programme began in 2012. He was attracted to the programme because of its practicality and its message of hope and love. Dr Tan believes that the ParentCare programme will not only benefit children, but more importantly, the parents, through self-transformation.

Selvi Nadarajan completed her accounting degree in Singapore. With her career development, Selvi further acquired an MSc degree in technology management and a Masters degree in managerial psychology. Her working experience has been with systems development, business process improvement, information security, project management, risk management and compliance areas for different industries, including banking, retail and life sciences. She is currently the Global Service Delivery Head – Risk Management for a Swiss pharmaceutical company. Selvi is married with two children, and has been facilitating ParentCare sessions for various community groups since 2012.

Ranitha Devi Ramiya is an information technology professional with 19 years of experience, serving with DMIB and Accenture, and currently with DHL Asia Pacific’s regional team. She is married with two children aged 10 and 13, and has been a ParentCare facilitator since 2012.

Terms and Conditions

Places are limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

For events with registration fees, all payments must be made in advance, including bank charges. Registration will be confirmed once proof of payment is provided by email or fax, and full payment is received.

For events that are not organised by Bar Council, please note that you are subject to the relevant terms and conditions specified by the external providers.

Goods and Services Tax ("GST")

Certain supplies of goods and services that we make may be subject to GST, and we are required to levy GST on such taxable goods and services from 1 Apr 2015.

We reserve the right to implement any necessary changes to our policies on goods and services that we may supply or on supplies we may receive from vendors.

Cancellation 

Cancellations must be made in writing at least 48 hours prior to the event.

If you have failed to inform the organiser on your cancellation for three consecutive times, you may be blacklisted for future events.

Refunds 

Refunds will be processed after the event is completed. This may take up to 30 business days. The conditions for refunds are as follows:

  • Full refunds will be issued if the cancellation is notified to the organiser three business days before the event.
  • No refunds will be issued if the cancellation is notified to the organiser less than three business days from the event.

The organiser reserves the right to modify, cancel or postpone the event, should circumstances arise that make such action necessary, whereupon all registration fees paid will be refunded.

Transferral

You are allowed to transfer your place to another participant, but you must notify the organiser with the necessary details.

Attendance 

CPD points will not be awarded to lawyers and pupils in chambers from Peninsular Malaysia who arrive more than 15 minutes late, are not present throughout the event, or leave before its scheduled end.

Privacy 

The personal information that you provide to Bar Council, whether now or in the future, may be used, recorded, stored, disclosed or otherwise processed by or on behalf of Bar Council for the purposes of facilitation and organisation of the event, research and audit, and maintenance of a participant database for the promotion of the event, and such ancillary services as may be relevant.
