Description
The Competition Law Subcommittee of the Bar Council Corporate and Commercial Law Committee, in collaboration with the Malaysia Competition Commission (“MyCC”), is pleased to invite both Members and non-Members of the Bar to attend a targeted engagement session on the recent developments relating to the Competition (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the Competition Commission (Amendment) Bill 2026 (collectively known as “the Bills”).
Following the passing of the Bills during the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) and Dewan Negara (Senate) sitting, this engagement session aims to provide Members of the Bar and non-Members with a better understanding of the proposed legislative changes and their implications on legal practice, corporate advisory, enforcement parameters and the broader business and economic landscape.
This seminar will feature a briefing by Datuk Haji Iskandar Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of MyCC, who will share insights into the key
features of the amendments, the operational shifts arising from the proposed changes and the anticipated impact on stakeholders. This will be followed by a question-and-answer session moderated by Anand Raj, President of the Malaysian Bar, which will provide participants with the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker on the proposed legislative reforms.
As these legislative developments are expected to significantly shape Malaysia’s competition law landscape, this engagement will serve as an important platform for dialogue between MyCC and the legal community, facilitating greater clarity, alignment and effective implementation of the new legislative requirements.
Members of the Bar and interested participants are encouraged to participate in this seminar, which will be conducted as a hybrid event.
Terms and Conditions
Event Policy
Places are limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis. The registration for this seminar will close on 26 Aug 2026 (Wednesday), at 12:00 pm. For events with registration fees, all payments must be made in advance, including bank charges. Registration will be confirmed once proof of payment is provided by email or fax, and full payment is received. The organiser reserves the right to modify, cancel or
postpone the event, should circumstances arise that make such action necessary, whereupon all registration fees paid will be refunded.
Cancellation
Cancellations must be made in writing. Please note that there will be no refunds for cancellations, but substitutions are allowed. Kindly inform us in writing with the relevant details at least three days in advance. If you have failed to inform the organiser on your cancellation for three consecutive times, you may be blacklisted for future events.
Transferral
You are allowed to transfer your place to another participant, but you must notify the organiser with the necessary details at least three days in advance.
Attendance
CPD points for the CPD Scheme will not be awarded to lawyers and pupils in chambers from Peninsular Malaysia who arrive more than 15 minutes late, are not present throughout the event, or leave before its scheduled end.
Privacy
The personal information that you provide to the Malaysian Bar, whether now or in the future, may be used, recorded, stored, disclosed or otherwise processed by or on behalf of the Malaysian Bar for the purposes of facilitation and organisation of this event, research and audit, maintenance of a participant database for the promotion of this event, and such ancillary services as may be relevant.
