The ABCs of Strata Management – Part 2

This course is best suited for those who:

  • Like to handle Developers’ work – Learn how to advise a developer embarking on developing high rise buildings in a mixed development under the HDA/SMA or clients who are contractors switching to development work. Advisory work can lead to drafting DMC, By Laws and Regulations, and pleadings for the Strata Tribunal/Housing Tribunal;
  • Desiring to work for JMB/MC/Sub MC and would like to know how to advice what their roles and functions

Description

This course is best suited for those who:

Advisory work can lead to drafting DMC, By Laws and Regulations, and pleadings for the
    Strata Tribunal/Housing Tribunal;
  • Desiring to work for JMB/MC/Sub MC and would like to know how to advice what their roles and functions
    of these Management Committee are – and on settling disputes internally – or before the Strata Tribunal.

In any event, this course is suitable for those preferring Solicitor’s work be it advisory or on a consultative basis,
without litigation or contention. Only when things turn sour, then for those litigating already, this course would
enhance their advocacy work when conducting review against the Strata Tribunal Award or when handling
litigious matters which is outside the jurisdiction of the Strata Tribunal.

Speaker

Lee Peck Ha is a member of the Malaysian Bar since 20 June 1984. In these 35 years, she has been in practice mainly in the area of conveyancing and civil litigation. Her area of practice also involved business and commercial law, family law, estate law, land law, housing law, debt collection, contract law, corporate winding up and bankruptcy, banking, and agreement drafting as a Solicitor.

She was a Chairman of the One Residence Bayu Puteri Condominium project; Chairman of Menara TJB and secretary of joint management body (JMB) City Plaza all in Johor Bahru in 2008. Her experiences involved in these projects mark her well knowledge in the area of strata management.

She has absolute passion in teaching and training and currently a trainer for CPD Department for CPD Camps: Banking & Finance and CPD Prime: Land Law – Removal of Private Caveat: Negotiate, Mediate or Litigate? Peck Ha is also one of the panel accredited mediator of the Malaysian Mediation Centre.

Terms and Conditions

Places are limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

For events with registration fees, all payments must be made in advance, including bank charges. Registration will be confirmed once proof of payment is provided by email or fax, and full payment is received.

For events that are not organised by Bar Council, please note that you are subject to the relevant terms and conditions specified by the external providers.

Cancellation 

Cancellations must be made in writing at least 48 hours prior to the event.

If you have failed to inform the organiser on your cancellation for three consecutive times, you may be blacklisted for future events.

Refunds 

Refunds will be processed after the event is completed. This may take up to 30 business days. The conditions for refunds are as follows:

  • Full refunds will be issued if the cancellation is notified to the organiser three business days before the event.
  • No refunds will be issued if the cancellation is notified to the organiser less than three business days from the event.

The organiser reserves the right to modify, cancel or postpone the event, should circumstances arise that make such action necessary, whereupon all registration fees paid will be refunded.

Transferral

You are allowed to transfer your place to another participant, but you must notify the organiser with the necessary details.

Attendance 

CPD points will not be awarded to lawyers and pupils in chambers from Peninsular Malaysia who arrive more than 15 minutes late, are not present throughout the event, or leave before its scheduled end.

Privacy 

The personal information that you provide to the Bar Council, whether now or in the future, may be used, recorded, stored, disclosed or otherwise processed by or on behalf of the Bar Council for the purposes of facilitation and organisation of this event, research and audit, maintenance of a participant database for the promotion of this event, and such ancillary services as may be relevant.
