This seminar is designed to teach the basics of cross-examination to junior lawyers and to impart useful lessons and pointers to utilize in their cross-examination of witnesses.

Speaker

Brendan Navin Siva was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1999. He practices mainly in the areas of commercial and corporate litigation. Brendan was the Chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee for two terms in 2010 to 2012, and eight terms, as a member of the Bar Council. He has conducted advocacy training throughout Malaysia, Hong Kong, South Africa, UK, Singapore, Ireland, Scotland and Australia.

Brendan was invited to join the faculty for the Advanced International Advocacy Training Course at Keble College, Oxford in 2014 and 2015, the Advanced Advocacy Training Course in Stellenbosch, South Africa in 2014 and 2016 organised by the General Council of the Bar of South Africa and the Advanced Advocacy Intensive Course in 2015 (Melbourne) and 2017 (Sydney) organised by the Australian Bar Association. Brendan is currently Chairman of the International Advocacy Training Council.

Cheow Wee was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1993. His practice is focused mainly in civil and criminal litigation. He is the founder of Messrs Cheow Wee & Mai. Cheow Wee has been an advocacy trainer since 2011. Cheow Wee has conducted advocacy training throughout Malaysia and has also been invited to join the teaching faculty of the International Advocacy Training Council conducting courses organized by Sabah Law Society in Kota Kinabalu (2014 & 2016), Brunei Darussalam Attorney General’s Chambers (2015), Republic of Fiji Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (2017) and Hong Kong Advocacy Training Council (2017 & 2019). In 2018 Cheow Wee was invited to join the teaching faculty at the Advanced Training Course at Keble College, Oxford.
