The talk discusses the illustrious career of the former Judge and some of his landmark judgements as seen in the recently launched publication, Hishamudin Yunus: Celebrating Judicial Independence, including a discussion on the expectations of a judge on the bench in regards to counsel appearing before the Court, and view from the perspective of Counsel.

Dato’ Seri Hishamudin Yunus
Former Court of Appeal Judge Dato’ Seri Hishamudin has presided over some of the most interesting political cases in Malaysian history. He has been hailed as a beacon of light in the Malaysian judiciary and often praised for his fearless integrity. He has written almost 750 judgments in both the High Court and the Court of Appeal over two decades in service.

Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill Partner Bahari’s expertise is in corporate and commercial dispute resolution and litigation. Bahari has extensive experience in dispute resolution in respect with land law, companies’ insolvency and banking litigation. Bahari is also a patent agent, trade mark agent and industrial design agent and heads the IP & TMT practice group at the firm.
Due to the growing awareness of the importance of intellectual property protection, Bahari has been engaged in a variety of intellectual property litigation cases. He also advises clients on the exploitation and protection of products and services including copyright, trademarks and designs; and acts for owners of well-known brands, characters and trademarks.
