Speaker

Rene Bernard, CEO and Founder, “LuxTag Powered by NEM”; President, Access Blockchain Association (Malaysia) Rene Bernard is CEO and Founder of “LuxTag Powered by NEM” and President of the Access Blockchain Association (Malaysia). His focus today is on Blockchain technology and its adoption and integration.

He has been an international tech entrepreneur since 2002. While studying Business Engineering in Germany, he concurrently ran an e commerce business serving multiple markets. Since 2009, Rene has been focusing on cybersecurity and IT system architecture design and administration, and since 2012, he has been a cryptocurrency and blockchain tech enthusiast. Combining his business and tech background, he joined the NEM Blockchain team in early 2016. Rene is a Certified Bitcoin Professional (“CBP”) and the first president of the NEM Association of Malaysia, bringing forward development and adoption of NEM blockchain. His non-profit community work shifted in May 2017 to Access Blockchain Malaysia Association, which is a society supporting businesses to embrace the more general adoption of Blockchain technology. Rene regularly shares his insight and views on Blockchain technology at global events and educates students and lecturers in Malaysia as part of Access Blockchain Association’s agenda.

Rene’s youngest project is LuxTag. Set up with two fellow co-founders, it is a promising and highly valued startup business in Malaysia, leveraging on Blockchain technology. It consists of a holistic system to enhance customer engagement for brands and manufacturers. Its solution tackles counterfeit and theft while creating big data insights for brands. Mohamed Ridza B Mohamed Abdulla, Managing Partner, Messrs Mohamed Ridza & Co.

Mohamed Ridza is the Managing Partner of Messrs Mohamed Ridza & Co., a Legal 500 firm, and has been involved in many notable transactions in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, China, Middle East and Europe. He is a certified adjudicator and a panel arbitrator in the area of Islamic banking and finance.

He is an independent director and member of the audit committee in a bank and a listed IT company. He also chairs the board committee on IT. Abroad, he sits as a board member of a property technology company in Singapore and was treasurer of Laworld, an international body of boutique law firms based in Spain.

He authored several publications including his recent book entitled The Life and Law of Fintech, published by Sweet & Maxwell. A Petronas scholar, he holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (London), a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrator (“FCIS”) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (“ACI Arc”).
