The Bar Council Tax and Customs Committee will be conducting a webinar to brief Members of the Malaysian Bar on the latest and final updates to the e-invoicing framework and their implications for legal practice. Following the Government’s recent announcements and revisions to implementation timelines and compliance requirements, the webinar will provide an authoritative overview of the obligations applicable to law firms, including practical steps to ensure readiness ahead of the mandatory rollout.
The webinar will cover key regulatory updates, technical and operational considerations for law firms, recommended transition measures and common compliance challenges. Participants will also have the opportunity to raise queries during the Question-and-Answer (“Q&A”) segment.

Thenesh Kannaa is an Executive Director at TraTax Sdn Bhd, a tax consulting firm based in Kuala Lumpur. He is in charge of international tax and indirect tax service lines, serving a diverse client base and handling a broad range of tax consulting and tax policy matters. Thenesh is also the Asia Pacific International Tax leader of WTS Global.
Under Thenesh’s leadership, TraTax has been recognised as one of the Top 11 firms in Malaysia for Transactional Taxation by International Tax Review (“ITR”) and within the Top 7 in Malaysia for Indirect Taxation. TraTax is also recognised as World Tax’s Recommended Firm in Malaysia and is the exclusive member of WTS Global in the country.
With hands-on experience and thought-provoking observations, he has presented at over 100 tax conferences hosted across Malaysia, Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore and Taiwan.
Thenesh has authored three books on taxation, contributed two chapters to books for the International Fiscal Association (“IFA”) and International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (“IBFD”), and written numerous technical articles for newsletters and journals. He is also frequently interviewed by mainstream media such as Astro Awani, BFM 89.9, The Star, The Sun Malaysia and The Edge business weekly.
Thenesh is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (“ACCA”)’s expert panel on taxation and the Co-Chair of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (“CTIM”)’s Tax Policy Committee (“TPoC”), a committee of the nation’s premier tax body tasked with providing constructive input to the Government on tax measures. He is also an EXCO member of IFA’s Malaysia branch and a member of the ESG Taskforce under ACCA Malaysia’s Advisory Committee.

Anand Raj was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1996 and has been a partner of Shearn Delamore & Co. since 2003. Anand is a Partner in the firm’s Tax, Trade and Customs Department as well as the Competition Law and Antitrust Department.
The Asia Business Law Journal (2020–2024) recognised Anand as one of Malaysia’s “Top 100 Lawyers” in Competition Law and Antitrust, and Tax Disputes and Controversy. Asialaw’s Client Service Excellence (2021) recognised Anand as “The Highest Rated Lawyer to Work With” in Tax and Competition / Antitrust. Anand was recognised as the 2017 Asia Tax Disputes and Litigation Practice Leader of the Year by ITR, and Asialaw Leading Lawyers (2020–2023) recognised him as an “Elite Practitioner” in Competition / Antitrust and in Tax.
He was also recognised as a “Highly Regarded Practitioner” in Indirect Tax and Tax Controversy (2019–2022) and as “Highly Regarded” in World Transfer Pricing (“TP”) (2023–2024) by ITR. Anand is ranked by Legal 500 Asia Pacific (2019–2024) as a “Leading Individual” in Tax and as a “Global Leader” (2019–2020) in Competition, as well as a “Recommended Corporate Tax Lawyer” (2013–2024) by Who’s Who Legal. He is also ranked as a “Band 1 Lawyer” in Tax (2011–2024) and in Competition / Antitrust (2015–2024) by Chambers Asia Pacific. He was also recognised by Who’s Who Legal (2019–2023) as “National Leader (Southeast Asia)” in Competition and Corporate Tax.
Anand has acted in numerous tax cases, including disputes on legal privilege before the Federal Court and matters involving multinational corporations, government-linked companies and commercial entities.
Anand currently serves as the Vice President of the Malaysian Bar. He is the Chairperson of the Bar Council Tax and Customs Committee, Co-Chairperson of the Bar Council Corporate and Commercial Law Committee and Chairperson of the Bar Council Competition Law Subcommittee. He was the former Chair of IFA, Malaysia, and is currently a member of the IFA Asia Pacific Regional Committee. He served as the former Co-Chair of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (“IPBA”) Competition Law Committee; is an international member of the American Bar Association (“ABA”) and the inaugural Chair of LAWASIA’s Antitrust and Competition Law Sub Committee.

Event Policy
Admission is free, but advance registration is required. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The registration for this session will close on 22 Dec 2025 (Monday), at 12:00 pm. The organiser reserves the right to modify, cancel or postpone the event, should circumstances arise that make such action necessary.
Cancellation
Cancellations must be made in writing. Substitutions are allowed. Kindly inform us in writing with the relevant details at least three days in advance. If you have failed to inform the organiser on your cancellation for three consecutive times, you may be blacklisted for future events.
Transferral
You are allowed to transfer your place to another participant, but you must notify the organiser with the necessary details at least three days in advance
Attendance
CPD points for CPD Scheme will not be awarded to lawyers and pupils in chambers from Peninsular Malaysia who arrive more than 15 minutes late, are not present throughout the event, or leave before its scheduled end.
