Description
Concerned about cyber threats but unsure where to start?
The Bar Council Risk Management Committee is organising a webinar to equip legal practitioners with essential knowledge on cybersecurity in legal practice as part of its risk management initiative.
With the increasing digitalisation of the legal industry, it is crucial for lawyers to understand how to safeguard their client’s data and build a cyber-resilient law firm. This session is designed to raise awareness, provide practical insights, and encourage law firms to adopt best practices in cybersecurity.
Participants will gain a better understanding of how to protect sensitive client data, comply with legal and ethical duties, and respond effectively to cyber threats.
The talk will cover the following topics:
• Why cybersecurity matters for lawyers;
• Digital transformation in legal practice;
• Importance of protecting client confidentiality;
• Real-life examples of cyber incidents involving law firms;
• Common cyber threats such as phishing, ransomware, and cloud vulnerabilities;
• Responsibilities under the Personal Data Protection Act (“PDPA”);
• Cyber hygiene practices for legal practitioners; and
• Basic firm-level cybersecurity measures.
