CPD Prime Live | A Bill to Safeguard the Rights and Interest of the Elderly and Vulnerable Adults

27 Aug 2021 - Fri / 1 day / 3:00pm - 5:00pm / Zoom Webinar

How do we empower older persons to protect themselves and their assets from abuse? How may they be supported to make decisions that are reflective of their intentions, rights, and preferences? What are the safeguards against abuse of power by a substitute decision-maker? How may we
promote confidence for older persons in planning for their future?

Urgent reforms are needed to provide law that uphold both autonomy and protection of older persons from harm. Should we take a leaf from other jurisdictions to allow enduring powers of attorney, enduring guardianship, advance care directives, and other advance planning documents?

In this webinar, the panellists will discuss the United Nations Principles for Older Persons, and explore elder law legal frameworks from United Kingdom, Singapore, Myanmar, and Thailand.
