Description
To draft Pleadings in matrimonial proceedings, members require good drafting skills. This workshop aims to improve the participants’ drafting skills in this area of law.
Participants must bring:
i. Law Reform (Marriage& Divorce) Act 1976;
ii. Rules of Court 2012;
iii. Guardianship of Infants Act 1961;
iv. Married Women and Children (Maintenance) Act 1950;
v. a laptop.
Participants will be provided with, and work on a set of facts commonly encountered in divorce and judicial separation proceedings. You will be guided in drafting a Petition, Answer And Cross-Petition, Reply And Answer to Cross-Petition, And Reply. This include pleadings involving a Co-Respondent/Party Cited.

Honey Tan Lay Ean has an LLB from the University of Buckingham, and an LLM from Warwick University. She is the Co-Deputy Chairperson of the Family Law Committee of the Malaysian Bar. Honey’s main area of practice is in the field of high conflict matrimonial law. She is also engaged in public interest litigation, primarily in the areas of equality and nondiscrimination.
Matt Wong Chong Ee has an LLB from the University of London. He serves on the Malaysian Bar’s Family Law Committee and the Civil Practice and Court Liaison Committee of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee. His areas of practice are in contentious custody and matrimonial matters. The cases he deals with often involve domestic violence and foreign spouses.
