Description
The above topic is usually a cause for concern for married couples who have in the course of their marriage acquired matrimonial assets and are headed for a divorce. Upper-most in their minds is, “will I be taken to the cleaners after the divorce”.
The speaker will discuss Section 76 of the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 and how the Malaysian courts have interpreted this section before they arrive at a decision/order.
More importantly, the Speaker hopes to explore and discuss at length if there is an urgent need to amend Section 76 so that our Malaysian Laws are in line with the current laws and trends in other developed nations with regard to the division of matrimonial assets.
